Are you at risk of diabetes? Check out this free factsheet

Are you at risk of diabetes? A free downloadable factsheet has been created for Federation members to mark this year’s World Diabetes Day.

Complete with information on both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, the leaflet, which has been created by Police Mutual, also includes factors that might put a person at higher risk of developing the condition.

World Diabetes Day falls today (14 November), with this year’s theme being ‘education’ aiming to protect tomorrow.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that happens when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin - a hormone that regulates blood glucose - or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces.

As well as bursting full of tips on how you can try to prevent developing diabetes, the leaflet also includes some of the main symptoms to look out for.

Police Mutual is a national organisation that provides both serving and former members of the police family with wellbeing and financial support.
